Removing fake products from Shein

Few platforms have reshaped global retail quite like Shein. What started as a small Chinese fashion operation in 2008 has grown into a $38 billion juggernaut serving customers across 160 countries, built on ultra-low prices, an algorithm-driven product machine, and a social media marketing engine that turned Gen Z into its most loyal audience. That scale, though, cuts both ways. Where Shein goes, counterfeiters and IP infringers follow.

About Shein

Understanding Shein's structure is the first step to tackling infringements effectively. A few things set it apart from most other platforms brand protection teams deal with.

Key Shein intelligence

Here's another detail worth flagging: One detail worth flagging: Shein does not sell to mainland China, and most Chinese consumers cannot access the site without a VPN. It is, in every meaningful sense, a platform built for the rest of the world, with its supply chain rooted in Guangzhou.

When it comes to tackling fakes on Shein, brands face a huge problem with scale

The numbers here are genuinely staggering. Shein introduces between 2,000 and 10,000 new product styles every single day, drawing on a supplier network of more than 3,000 manufacturers. Its small-batch production model, starting with as few as 100 units per style to test demand, means the catalogue turns over constantly. For brand protection teams, that velocity makes manual monitoring completely unworkable.
Shein is no stranger to IP disputes from either side of the table. It has faced trademark and copyright actions from huge brands, and in general, legitimate retailers must take matters into their own hands if they want their products and customers to stay safe online.

Shein reporting and takedown tools

/

For products and listings

Navigate to the relevant product page, select the Report option, choose the intellectual property category, attach supporting documentation, and submit. Shein also operates a dedicated IP portal for rights owners managing higher volumes of infringement reports.

/

For sellers

Shein's seller policies cover trademark infringement, counterfeit goods, and unauthorized brand use. Reporting mechanisms differ slightly by market, so consult the guidelines for your specific region before submitting.

/

For social content

Shein built its brand through ads, trends, and social marketing, and counterfeiters use exactly the same playbook. Report content through the IP violation reporting tools on each platform, or use Online Brand Protection to tackle all channels at once.
